Bull Headed Can Be Good-Sometimes.

Most of you know, Wranglers can build, fix, cobble together, and design almost anything.

A few months ago, he had a vision.

Some of his visions, tend to worry me.  And this one fell into that category.

I just wasn't sure.

I have difficulty seeing things that just aren't there.

He could see it.   Plain as day.

Not me.

Couldn't see a thing.

Nada.

Honestly, I have to say, once he wants to do something, well, um....let's just say... he does it.

He's kinda "bull headed" that way.

Now, me... I have to worry.

And fret.

 Ponder the pros and cons.

And look things up on the internet.  (Ha!  That rhymes.  Fret/internet.) Never mind.

And look at the bank balance.

And walk around from room to room, trying to remember just what it is I am fretting about.

But not Wranglers.  He gets a plan, forges ahead, and gets things done.

But, for some reason, he waits till I am out of the house.  Hmmm.

One day, I came home from work to find this.

I know he has a vision, but I'm not seeing it.

Still not seeing it.

Then, help arrived.

My father-in-law from Oklahoma and our teenager really helped speed things along.
As you can see, Wranglers has taken on the position of Project Supervisor.

Maybe....now...I....am...starting... to...see.... something....hmmm.

Now I see IT, and ME LIKEY!

Remember the drab pictures I posted from the other sides of our house?  This back yard facing the south, is my only salvation.  Blue grass and a sprinkler system work quite well together.  However, we use the sprinkler system sparingly.  You see, we know what it feels like to turn on the faucet to brush your teeth, and no water comes out.  And we know the feeling of being in the shower, getting all soaped up and...the water stops coming.  But that's another story, for another day.

We sit out here every morning and drink coffee before work, then again every evening.  But we don't drink coffee in the evening.  It's too hot here to drink coffee in the evening.  Thought I should clarify that.

The fireplace in the middle is one of my favorite things.  He ran a gas line to it.  Presto.  Instant fire.  And I don't smell like I have been to a keg party out at the sand pit.  Brilliant.   (Of course, I have never been to a keg party out at the sand pit.)  At least not since I graduated high school.

It Ain't No Beach...

We didn't go to the beach this year.

And I am having trouble getting over it.  You see, I need the beach.

My sanity depends on it.

I am a little less cranky if I know there is a beach trip in my future.

Not the case this year.

Most of you know, I live in Colorado.  So, what am I complaining about?  I live in one of the most beautiful states there is.

However....

This is the view surrounding our little corner of paradise.

Looking to the NW.

 The East.

And the South.

I didn't see any Rocky Mountains.  Did you?

And because of the severe drought, the only green is where our drip system is in place around the trees, although, we do have a small oasis in our back yard...I am saving that for another post.

So, instead of the beach, we hit the highway and headed straight west.

Surprising, but just three hours from our desolate world, is this.

Beautiful.

This is the Dog Bar in Cuchara.  And yes, all dogs are welcome to come inside.

The Timbers Restaurant, also in Cuchara.

WATER!!!

Elk sighting.

We were headed to Pagosa Springs, but had to stop and just take in the view.  This area down below is called Bruce's Spruce.  They have cabins and campsites...we are definitely going to book some time here soon.

Pagosa Springs is known for it's all natural healing springs.  I could not wait to get there, grab a beverage, and let the healing begin.  But that meant putting on a swimsuit, and...well...it may take a couple of beverages.

We stayed at the beautiful Springs Resort, right on the river.  They have numerous hot springs, all with varying temperatures.

The steam from the hot springs is an amazing sight.

Oh the flowers!  What I wouldn't give to have my baskets look like this.  It's obvious these have never been hit with gale force winds that carry blast furnace heat of 100 + degrees.  People this an everyday occurance where we live, and it is miserable.

I must say...this trip was not to the beach, but I LOVED IT!!!

And you know, all this beauty was in our own back yard.

Ok, not exactly in our back yard, but a short drive away, and a definite great weekend destination.

p.s.  About the hot springs healing powers...let me just say, I am now a true believer.

More Snake Business

Hey friends, I'm finally back.

Back from where?  An extended vacation on far away remote island.  Not.

Sorry people, it's just been a long, long, hot, busy summer.

I actually thought about hanging my blog out to dry, and just enjoy reading everyone else's.
Leave the blogging up to the professionals, I told myself.

But....I have really missed my blog friends, and, uh....blogging.

So, I shall carry on, and hope you all haven't deleted me!

Here for your enjoyment, or not, is a little more snake business.  Our part of the world has been so horribly dry-the buffalo grass is brown and crunchy, the ground has large cracks, and everything is suffering.  Even these nasty little creatures are coming right up to our porch to get a drink from our waterfall.

Honestly, I have never seen a snake drinking water.  Guess I never thought about it, but, apparently these little rascals need a drink ever now and then.

I told them to travel a few miles on down to the neighbors, or I would call in The Snake Wrangler
