Spreading Their Wings

The baby birds went directly from cute little fuzzy creatures to their dorky stage.  You know, kind of like teenagers.

Sorry.  I couldn't resist.

And besides, you know I'm kidding........sort of.

There are actually five babies in the basket, but the momma bird was freaking out so this was the best angle I could get.

These two were the last ones.  I wasn't home when the others started spreading their wings.
Believe it or not, I actually have to leave our little country paradise and go to my real job.
As I've said before, I would never go to town, if it wasn't for work, toilet paper, beer, and....well, I guess that's it.  Oh, and groceries.

And here's the last little soldier.

He's so cute.

And he's soooo scared.  Everyone has left him, and he's just not sure about this whole flying thing.

I watched him for a long.  Long.  LONG time.

And....nothing.

Then momma finally came back.  I guess she was offering some chirps of encouragement.

He's looking at his mom like, do I have to?

Okay!  Finally!

Houston, we have lift off!

Well....not so fast.

He got up on the edge and did this like 247 times.

Of course, patience is not my thing, so I missed the actual lift off.

But, wait.  There's more.

Later I looked out the window to witness one of my dogs, (and I'm not mentioning any names),
barking at my little feathered friend.

So, I ran out to chase the dog away, and in an instant, the butt-head snatched him up and threw him in the air.

Gah.  I ran for the shack and grabbed a bucket.

Threw it on top of the bird, and held the dogs back.

Yes.  I am woman.  Hear me roar.

Wranglers wasn't here to help me, cause he was out of town for a week.

I couldn't tell you all that just in case there is an axe murderer amongst you.

But, I have a gun and I'm not afraid to use it.

Sorry.  Where was I?

Oh yeah.  The bucket and the bird.

I scooped him up in the bucket, and promptly deposited him back the flower basket.

He was a little frazzled, but hey...who wouldn't be?

I'm happy to report, a few hours later, he made his first successful solo flight.

And all was well again.

For The Birds

Once upon a time, Wranglers planted this beautiful flower basket for me.

And then, one day, someone else thought it was beautiful, too.

Here's what happened next.

Pretty cute, eh?

All five eggs hatched, and both the momma and daddy have run  flown themselves crazy keeping them fed.

They've also spent countless hours "dive-bombing" the dogs.  It's hilarious to watch, and I've tried and tried to snap a photo, but they are just too darn fast me.

Up next....Spreading Their Wings.

Ten Things. Or Maybe Twelve...Or Thirteen.

Here's the deal.

My poor little blonde brain is fried.

And this is what goes through a fried brain.

1. I can't find my car keys.  I borrowed Wrangler's set, but...eventually he is gonna want them back.
The truth is....he doesn't know that I lost mine, OR, that I borrowed his.

2. I haven't even looked for the lost keys. I'm afraid to empty my purse.

3. It's wheat harvest in our community, and I don't know if I'm coming...or going.

4. My pants keep getting tighter...this really confuses me.

5. Wranglers says a lot of things confuse me.

6. I wore my hair in a ponytail and baseball cap everyday this week.  I hope what they say about
    balding and caps isn't true.

7. Our grocery store had only two heads of lettuce yesterday...this confuses me.

8. Recently I tried to lose ten pounds.  Instead, I gained three...and, this confuses me.

9. I love living in the country.  But I think I want to become a hippy and live on the beach.

10. I almost bought a Harley Davidson two weeks ago.  It's on my bucket list.

11. Ok.  I know I said ten things.  But this is good therapy.  And...I'm on a roll.

12.  It's quite possible that getting closer to my fiftieth birthday is making me a little off in the head.
Like, I'm not firing on all cylinders.

13.  Ok.  I'll stop.

Love,

Confused

                                                                       THE END.

My Little Shabby Chic Garden Spot

A few years ago, Wranglers built this garden bench for me for Mother's Day.

I love it, and wouldn't trade it for anything.  Each year, I anticipate spring and summer, so I can decorate it up with flowers.

I love the old metal containers...a water cooler, a pail, a pressure cooker, and a watering can.

The best part....I found all of these out in the barn!  Pretty cool, eh?

That's all for now, folks.  Have a groovy day!
