This is cake is perfect for a potluck, which is exactly why I made this recently. Hence, the ugly disposable pan.
One other little tid-bit...my favorite way to enjoy this cake is: warm out of the oven and.....drum roll...a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Oh lawdy it's good.
1 can cherry pie filling
1 yellow cake mix
1/2 cup chopped pecans
2 sticks butter
I sprinkle a little sugar on top of the cherry pie filling. It's not in the recipe, but my mom told me too!
Next, dump the cake mix in and gently spread.
I wish I had made two of these. You have no idea how hard it was not to grab a spoon and the vanilla ice cream. Since it was a potluck and all, I figured I better restrain myself.
