    A Lovely Little Dirt Storm

For the last few months we have been busy with preparations for our son’s high school graduation reception. Painting the porch, washing windows, clearing out tumbleweeds, etc. Once we had the outside looking good, Mother Nature stepped in. That’s our place, getting hammered by the dirt. This window was nice and shiny when I left the house that morning. Poor Baxter was getting nervous. My car. My mail. So…….we waited for the dust to settle, and got busy with whole clean-up process, AGAIN. However, this time, we had to include spraying off the house and roof, which made a nice little muddy mess. Note:  I use the term, we, loosely.…

    A Very Country Easter!

I hope you all have had a wonderful Easter!  We have had an incredible day. But, before I share the details, I just have to tell you all that I have missed you terribly!  My blog friends are near and dear to my heart, and I have ONCE AGAIN, fallen off the face of bloggy land.  I will be back to visit you all asap….I pinky promise. Now,  back to the scheduled program. Our church has a tradition of having a sunrise service.  It’s not just any sunrise service.  It’s held at the top of the one and only “mountain” in our area.  It’s Two Buttes Mountain, and it “sticks…

    Country Commute

For you friends who live in the city, and long for an easy commute….. This makes for a pretty easy trip to work everyday. Unless it’s a blizzard.  Or, the dirt is blowing so hard the State Highway Department is forced to close ALL the highways in our area. (that actually happened recently)  Or, two huge round bales fall off a truck and are blocking the road.  (that happened, too)  Or, there is a skunk family crossing the road. So, yeah, we have our commuting problems, too.

Flowers + Standing Eggs = Spring!

In celebration of the arrival of Spring, I have some groovy photos to share. Did any of you try this on the first day of Spring?  My mom and I had fun doing this. We actually turned it into a competition. One of my eggs tipped over, and knocked two of hers down….she was not happy…we take this stuff serious. One of my  favorite things this time of year, is to go to the FFA greenhouse.  While the weather outside is still frightful, inside the greenhouse is…delightful.  Ha!  Obviously, the greenhouse plants need some more time to mature.  But when they do, man they are gonna be beautiful. Inside the…

Happy Wednesday, From Max and Baxter

Yes, I’m alive and well.  No, I didn’t win the lottery and run off to that secluded island…not yet, anyway. Found these photos of our four-legged friends and they wanted me to post them.                                                           Have a wonderful day, people!

    Tumbleweed Tales

Living in the country has it’s advantages. And trust me there are many. However, there are few disadvantages. Okay…maybe just one disadvantage.  Tumbleweeds. A few nights ago, we had a little wind. Actually, it was more like a hurricane. It blew so hard, things actually started falling off the walls inside our house. If you have never experienced stuff falling off the walls at 1:30 in the morning, trust me….it’s a little freaky. Here are just a FEW of the tumbleweeds. Outside the bedroom windows. In the yard. Packed under the bridge in front of our casa. In, and around the corrals. Here’s the best part…NOT. This is damage to…

    Frosty, Foggy, And Frigid!

Woke up to a winter wonderland this morning!  Well, actually, we woke up at dark thirty just like always. (Why, oh why, can’t we sleep in when we have a day off??)   Anyhoo, we didn’t realize it was a winter wonderland until the sun came up. Being a good little bloggy friend, I shuffled outside in my jammies, robe, and Christmas slippers to get a few shots for ya.  Note:  I said “shuffled” because my husband says I sound like a little old lady shuffling around in my slippers. The bad part about that, is….he might be correct. On to the pictures! If you need me, I’ll be right…

That One Time I Caught A Thief

We have had a thief stalking our ranch.  Things have come up missing.  Precious things.  Things close to my heart.  To say the least, it’s become quite upsetting. I’ve been sleeping with one eye open.  And a finger on the trigger. I’ll tell you what’s come up missing……………………………………………………………… TOMATOES!!  MY GARDEN TOMATOES!!  MY PRECIOUS, BEAUTIFUL, TOMATOES!! See why this has been such an upsetting experience?  We have nurtured, and watered, and nurtured, and watered, and nurtured, and…..well, you get the picture. We started noticing, when a tomato was just about ripe for the picking, it would be gone, the very next morning. Then, we started noticing tomatoes just lying on…
